5 Free Playful Alternatives to Comic Sans

January 20, 2010 by Eric | 1 Comment »

The widespread hatred for the Comic Sans font throughout the design community is well known. While that particular font is avoided as if it carries the black plague, sometimes a playful comic style font is still useful. Here I’ve gathered 5 well designed and playful alternatives to Comic Sans that are free for personal and non-commercial use with simple, cheap and even noble licensing options. continue reading…

After a long weekend and an extra day off I’m back and picking things up with day 19 of the daily design challenge. This is a dual monitor wallpaper featuring some pipes and gears on a dark textured background. Please feel free to take and use this however you wish.

Doggie Do 365: Day 15

Daily design challenge day 15. Found a tutorial to create this in photoshop and thought I’d give it a quick try for today’s daily design.

Doggie Do 365: Day 14

January 14, 2010 by Eric | No Comments »

This one was inspired by the great typography designs being posted over on Mio’s blog by Sarah Gaffney. I’m absolutely loving the stuff that she’s posting for the daily design challenge and I encourage everyone to check her out.

This quote caught my eye today and it rings with so much truth that I thought I would share it through the daily design challenge so here’s my day 14 submission. continue reading…

Doggie Do 365: Day 13

January 13, 2010 by Eric | No Comments »

Another daily design challenge, another poster. This is a gig poster done in a grunge/retro style. Sorry about the recurring dog theme but it’s the one thing that continues to pop into my mind when I start out on these challenges with no real direction.

If you’re interested in recreating anything here please check out these tutorials. I used a few different tutorials to help me knock this out. They’ve got some good info and are really easy to follow along. continue reading…

Doggie Do 365: Day 12

Playing around with retro 80′s style/futurist poster design. It could be better. Maybe I’ll keep playing with it and see what else I can come up with. You’ll want to click on the image to see the full view.

The Lost Art of Customer Service

January 12, 2010 by Eric | 2 Comments »

Is customer service a lost art in your interactions with customers and clients? I had the misfortune of experiencing shoddy customer service the other day and it made me think about how we’re treated as customers, how we treat our own clients and how providing good customer service benefits both sides. continue reading…

Doggie Do 365: Day 11

For those of you out there that are counting, you may have noticed that I missed yesterday. Here’s the excuse: I’m going to count Doggie Do day 9) as day 9 and 10 since I spent a good portion of the weekend working on the new look for the site. Cop-out? Maybe but as far as I see it, it should count.

On to day 11. Keeping in step with the whole “new look” theme, my day 11 design for the daily design challenge is my new twitter background. Here’s the image of the background but it’s hard to see on here so you should really go to my Twitter profile to get a good look at it. Hey, I’ve got an idea! Since you’re already going to my profile on Twitter now would be the perfect time to click on the follow button! continue reading…

Doggie Do: Create Something (day 9)

January 09, 2010 by Eric | 1 Comment »

For my day 9 design I offer up Good Dog Creative’s new look. This was a result of simply getting a little carried away. I started off with just wanting to fix some cosmetic issues and a few functionality issues that had been bugging me with the old design. I started working on those simple tasks and then I thought, “Hey, how about a new logo while I’m at it!”, which led to new colors, new layout, new plugins until eventually I had an altogether new design for the whole blog. continue reading…
